Territory by Eleanor Mortimer
The rock of Gibraltar is shared between two primate species: people and monkeys. The monkeys populated the upper rock long before the latest human inhabitants, the British, arrived, and now, 300 years on, there are tensions between the two. Attempts to expel the monkeys from the town with peashooters are in vain, as the animals rise to the challenges of the new game. This leads the government to resort to more drastic tactics.

Max Cooper - Order from Chaos - Official Video by Maxime Causeret by Max Cooper
I'm really excited about this video project, after the first live show it was the part that everyone was asking about - It is a beautiful humanised exploration of life and emergence, by Maxime Causeret. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! The idea for this part of the story started on a day when there was really heavy rain hitting the roof window at my old flat. I got out my binaural mics and put my head right up by the window with the big raindrops hitting all around. They made nice individual percussive noises, with great spatial positioning, so I decided to use them to seed a piece of music. This track is the most explicit representation of the idea of emergence in the album, because the rhythm of the track is created by the raindrops in an emergent manner - I took the audio samples, mapped the transients for the raindrop hits, and then forced the mapped points towards the nearest drumming grid positions. This meant that the random raindrops were pushed into a quantised grid, and the result was that a percussive rhythm emerged, one that I hadn't created myself, but was the closest rhythm to that particular section of rain. I then played the sansula over this rain rhythm, and added lots of pads and saturation layers, finally with some vocal snippets from Kathrin deBoer to complete the track. Maxime Causeret selected this track to work with, under the brief to map the emergent rhythm to an exploration of emergence in living form. His video shows the raindrops initially, then going into simple cellular forms and then showing the important idea of cooperation between simple cells to form more robust colonies of life. This develops into a visualisation of the idea of endosymbiosis, where simpler smaller organisms can live inside larger cells, each providing a benefit to the other, and eventually forming parts of the same organism as they evolve to be entirely dependent on each other. The video also shows competition between organisms for resources, which spurs on their evolutionary development, as each species tries to keep up with the innovations of the others. He also visualises the emergent ideas of flocking behaviour, where groups of individuals form beautiful dancing-like patterns. Maxime also shows us a section of animated reaction-diffusion patterns, where simple chemical feedback mechanisms can yield complex flowing bands of colour - these forms of system were originally thought up by Alan Turing, and were part of the early seeds of the field of systems biology, which seeks to simulate life with computers, in order to better understand the systems producing the complexity we see in the living world. They were also the starting point of my main research area many years ago before I got lost in music! (where I began with the question of what patterns could be produced via reaction-diffusion forms of system as opposed to gene-regulatory network controlled patterning). So it's a rich visual treat from Maxime on many levels, I can see why so many people were asking about it after the first live show. Lots more amazing video content to come over the next few weeks. One Year Lease by Brian Bolster
Ahhh, renting an apartment in New York City - tiny, 'challenging' spaces coupled with enormous rents are to be expected. The most eccentric of landlords...directly above you…with an itchy speed-dial finger? - perhaps not as common. Told almost entirely through voice mail messages, "One Year Lease" documents the travails of Brian, Thomas and Casper as they endure a year-long sentence with Rita the cat-loving landlady. Sometimes the calls not coming from INside the house, BUT from the apartment upstairs, can be just as scary…or, well, just downright bizarre. 2015 Festivals Sundance Film Festival Big Sky Documentary Film Festival Beloit International Film Festival True/False Film Festival Omaha Film Festival Atlanta Film Festival Flatpack Film Festival Toas Shortz Film Fest Ashland Independent Film Festival (Winner Best Short Documentary & Audience Award Best Short Documentary) Disposable Film Festival Sarasota Film Festival South Side Film Festival Provincetown Film Festival 2014 Festivals Tribeca Film Festival - Winner, Best Documentary Short Nantucket Film Festival Outfest LA Rooftop Films Summer Series Newfest NYC Traverse City Film Festival LA Shorts Fest Milwaukee Film Festival Nevada City Film Festival Edmonton International Film Festival Doc Utah New Orleans Film Festival Camden International Film Festival Big Eddy Film Festival Chicago International Film Festival Santa Fe Film Festival Cucalorous Film Festival Starz Denver Film Festival Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival Mill Valley Film Festival 41 North Film Festival Los Cabos International Film Festival AFI Fest East Lansing Film Festival New Hampshire Film Festival The Lone Star Film Festival Calgary Underground Film Festival Winner, Summer 2014 Hammer to Nail Short Film Contest

"Awake" has been a passion project of mine since 2013. I could write a novel outlining my experiences while shooting this film but I won't subject everyone to that. So to keep it "short", these have been some of the best, worst and most important parts of my life for the last four years. I've made lifelong friendships, seen more than I ever thought existed and have had more bad luck than I knew was possible. I'm not the same person I was when I left Michigan (I'm three years older than that person actually) Music: If Stars Could Speak - Alexandr Fullin Want some stats? Everyone likes stats. Featured on National Geographic. A lone freediver escapes to another world underwater where his impossible dreams become reality. "The Superman" is a labour of love project for directors Jack Pirie and Alex Hylands-White, made in collaboration with Freediver Francisco Del Rosario and Bamford Watch Department. The short film follows Del Rosario, who lives on the remote island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands. Directed by Jack Pirie & Alex Hylands-White http://ift.tt/RIbNn5 Featuring Francisco Del Rosario (director of "The Ocean Brothers" http://ift.tt/2i1FAIB https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx7LlPUGOkW1WcdvitNrixg) Produced by Nick Ogden www.highsixmedia.com Francisco once dived competitively, striving to see how deep he could go underwater. But he soon realized that isn't why he started diving. Now he does it for the clarity of mind, the inexplicable sensations, and to visit another world beneath the waves. We filmed for five days in the Canary Islands, on a shoestring budget and a team of three - not without incident. First a dislocated shoulder that happened while diving, then our main camera broke when the underwater casing flooded the camera... DO NOT RESIST by ro*co Films
Watch the full film here: http://ift.tt/2gPtltl Starting on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, as the community grapples with the death of Michael Brown, DO NOT RESIST — the directorial debut of DETROPIA cinematographer Craig Atkinson — offers a stunning look at the current state of policing in America and a glimpse into the future. The Tribeca Film Festival winner for Best Documentary puts viewers in the center of the action — from a ride—along with a South Carolina SWAT team and inside a police training seminar that teaches the importance of "righteous violence" to the floor of a congressional hearing on the proliferation of military equipment in small—town police departments — before exploring where controversial new technologies including predictive policing algorithms could lead the field next.

Letters from the Gods by augment5 Inc.
This film was shot between June and September 2016, after the Kumamoto earthquake. Japan has a long history of Buddhism and religious Mythology, where many have derived from other Asian cultures. One popular belief is that there is a God in everything. Until the 20th century, Kyushu was seen as Japan's gate to the world and a centre for trade. It has historically been the first stop for foreign traders and travelers in Japan and a place from which the outside influences would spread to the rest of the country. Time has moved on, but the landscapes and legends remain to this day. The Kumamoto earthquake has caused serious damage to the region. Many people have suffered physical and mental injuries and tourism has fallen drastically. The aim of this film is to disseminate the new appeal of the Kyushu region from a different perspective and to lift those affected by the earthquake. With this, we invite you to come on a journey with us to discover the real Kyushu where Gods, myths, and legends were created. #lettersfromthegods ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Director / Cameraman / Editor : Christoph Gelep Production Assistants : Ryuta Taniwaki, Haruka Akasaka, Yoshiyuki Sakuragi, Masami Miyai Production Coordinators : Masanori Inoue, Masaki Miyai, Rika Sato, Jinny Dhanasobhon Colorist : Masato Indo Drone Operators: Michito Tanaka, Kazuyoshi Yokoyama Music: Eve by Emancipator Sound Designer: Yasuhiro Nakashima Producer : Hidetaka Ino Production : augment5 Inc. My child is dreaming by Mr.Klesha animation
My Child is Dreaming: The idyllic world of children against adults' dreamlike visions. When my daughter was born I bought my first diary. In the beginning I was just taking notes of her progress, reactions and likes. Then I began writing about my dreams as well. After two years, I've collected all the most beautiful bits to create a video. From such duality, a project called "My child is dreaming" was born. It is an introspective journey full of metaphors and paradoxes that put in contrast the idyllic and enchanted world of children with adults' dreamlike visions, sometimes a bit pessimistic and obsessive. An introverted retail clerk sheds her good-girl image. NUTCRACKER is the short film adaptation of Tia Clark's story (American Short Fiction) that begins with a volatile game in the stock room of a sporting goods store. Shelly—an imaginative teenaged clerk struggling to unite her stimulating inner life with the slow grind of her retail job—seeks the validation of her coworkers who play the “rape game.” To measure her sense of self worth, Shelly succumbs to the lure of this brazenly toxic culture, and finds that the price of fitting in is more than she bargained for. http://ift.tt/2hcWjaR OFFICIAL SELECTION of the 2016 NEW ORLEANS FILM FESTIVAL Written and Directed by Michael Aronson Starring Ebboney Wilson, Nathaniel Kweku, Alexia Pearl, Alex Brooks Based on "Nutcracker" by Tia Clark Produced by Nathaniel Kweku Cinematography by Richie Yau Production Design by Michael Jon Leonard Edited by Nicole Brik Sound Design by Thomas Ouziel Original Music by Jacob Yoffee

Naughty Boy - Should've Been Me feat. Kyla and Popcaan by Ben Strebel
Credits - Director: Ben Strebel Producer: Katie Lambert Exec Producer: Ore Okonedo DOP: Ben Todd Focus Puller: Ahmet Husseyhein Steadicam: Andrew Fletcher Ugandan Service company: Seamless Uganda Editor: Max Windows Colourist: Houmam Abdallah (MPC) Commissioner: James Hackett (Virgin EMI) About - I wanted to show how skateboarding is a universal language. No matter where you're from or where you live, it unites us all. Found in the Kintale slums, Kampala, the park acts as a refuge an escape for local kids. Growing up in these tough conditions a lot of them can easily turn to crime. Skateboarding and the park (Run by the Uganda Skateboard Union) act as an outlet to combat this, a focus if you like. We found Trinity, our protagonist, hanging around the park; he was the only one out of the group of boys sat there who didn't smile. Something very serious and melancholic about him - a story behind those eyes. But then when he did smile, wow, our hearts melted. He's a little star, to say the least. The shoot was an emotional, harrowing and humbling experience that opened mine and the crew’s eyes. I love the fact that, by making this, we've been able to contribute to the building of the second part of the park.

SINGULARITY by Roman De Giuli
An ode to planet earth, solely told with organic fluids and a tiny crystal ball. Sometimes, the complexity of simplicity makes us fail to preserve the fundament of all we are and all we represent. But reaching awareness is not about the end, it is about the beginning. SINGULARITY takes us back to zero hour, 4.5 billion years back in time. It is the story of an indescribable hazard and a singular fortune: the fortune of being a human. This is organic FX from terracollage. Household ingredients and ink. Strictly 2D, no CGI. Globe of Death by Autobahn
‘Globe of Death’ is the story of Lucius Zafalon, a daredevil motorcycle rider that risks his body in the pursuit of the perfect globe of death act. Through all the challenges and difficulties he has never stopped focusing on his art. It is what defines him and what he has lived his whole life for. An act of raw beauty with precise flowing lines that defy the laws of physics, they create an awe inspiring ballet that mesmerises anyone who dares to keep their eyes open. For Lucius and his team The Globe of Death is not just an act, it is their lives. The Globe of Death is a stunt that dates from the beginning of the 20th century. One of the oldest patents for the mesh sphere ball was filed in 1904. Different to the Wall of death (popular in the UK) where the riders ride only on the horizontal, with the Globe of Death multiple riders can race in any direction at the same time. The Globe of Death gained popularity in Latin America and some of the best acts comes from Brazil. What makes a good Globe of Death act isn’t just how many motorcycles the team can fit inside the Globe, but also the beauty of their riding lines. The synchrony between the riders and the team’s particularities, such as riding in the dark and opening the Globe in half sets Lucius’ team apart. Directed by Pedro and James (Autobahn), they met Lucius through their passion for motorcycles. ‘We were mesmerised by how incredibly visual the act is and thought that combined with his life story it was a perfect subject for a film’. With photography by DP Malte Rosenfeld, colour grading by Jim Bracher at The Mill, and sound design by Patch Rowland at Final Cut, the film is a look into Lucius’ life and all he has gone through during 30 years of riding motorcycles in the Globe of Death. Shot on RED with anamorphic lenses from Cooke Optics and Kowa. Director: Autobahn (Pedro de la Fuente and James Worsley) Director of photography: Malte Rosenfeld Production company: Autobahn Productions Producer: Thais Altman Edit: Autobahn Colourist: Jim Bracher at The Mill Score: Russ Chimes Sound design and mix: Patch Rowland at Final Cut Additional music: Hems Graphic design: Duncan Edwards Special thanks to Lucius’ team Luis Fernando and Paulo Leonardo, and also to Pixi Pixel for equipment hire.

Alive by Alessandro Rovere
We traveled three weeks through the northern Himalayas of India, from Himachal Pradesh to Kashmir. It was a journey from valleys to peaks up to 5000m. We experienced a massive amount of different cultures, three major religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, met incredible people, saw never seen before nature and walked right next to the wildest animals. It´s nearly impossible to recreate this experience and our feelings and to compress it to just 3 minutes. So I tried to express the spirit of our journey. What we felt more than anything else, is to be alive. Portugal. The Man - Noise Pollution (Version A, Vocal Up Mix 1.3) [Official Music Video] by Portugal The Man
It's been a rough month y'all. Not to be dramatic and shit, but there’s a flood of noise right now that feels like it might drown us all. And it’s harder and harder to tell what’s fact, what’s opinion, and what’s just straight up bullshit. We’re not able to make sense of it, much less tell you how to make sense of it. Thank God there’s music for that. We’ve been working on a new record with your boy Michael Diamond for awhile, but we made a quick stop in Alaska with filmmaker Michael Ragen to shoot this video. Seemed like the right time to show it to you. We’re in this together. This Panda Is Dancing by Max Stossel
A poetic short film by Max Stossel & Sander van Dijk: In the Attention Economy, technology and media are designed to maximize our screen-time. But what if they were designed to help us live by our values? www.timewellspent.io What if news & media companies were creating content that enriched our lives, vs. catering to our most base instincts for clicks? What if social platforms were designed to help us create our ideal social lives, instead of to maximize time-on site and “likes”? What if dating apps measured their success in how well they helped us find what we’re looking for instead of in # of swipes? As technology gets more and more engaging, and as AI and VR become more and more prevalent in our day-to-day lives we need to take a look at how we’re structuring our future. Time Well Spent is a movement to align technology with our humanity: www.timewellspent.io Director, Co-producer, & Visual Effects: Sander van Dijk: www.sandervandijk.tv Writer, Co-producer & Lead Actor: Max Stossel: www.maxstossel.com Production Company: Yacht Club Films Director of Photography: Conor Murphy Color: RCO Music & Sound Design: Wesley Slover - Steadicam Operator: Kyle Fasanella Graphic Artist: Aaron Kemnitzer CG Artist: Joseph Pistono Visual Effects Assistant: Chelsea Galen Roto Assistant: Regina Morgan-Munoz Lead Actress: Crystal Lee Special Thanks: Chantal Stafford-Abbott, Radha Agrawal, Anneke Jong, Jacob Tugendrach, Alex Mizrahi, David Markowitz, Gene Gurkoff, Taryn Southern Katie Growald, Steph Bagley, Joel Wishkovsky, Amy Karr, Erica Shay, Kurt Peloquin, Tobias Rose Stockwell, Erica Berger, Nora Graham, Elana Meta, Julian Dufault, Michael Rosen, Kelly Stoecklin, Adam London, Gary Su, Auston Copeland, Katya Stepanov, Betty Kay Kendrick, Zach Bell, David Yarus, Stephan Cesarini, Jon Morris, Michelle Finizio, Lauren Bille, Felicity Conrad, Abel Costa, Ria Bouttier, James Hercher, Sarah Knapp, Simon Roberts, Alex Abelin, & Dan Fredinburg

Welcome to Canada by Go Project Films
This short film by Adam Loften and Mary Fowles tells the story of Mohammed Alsaleh, a young Syrian refugee granted asylum in Canada in 2014. After fleeing torture and imprisonment by the Assad regime, he is rebuilding his life. Mohammed counsels newly-arrived Syrian refugee families with the same Vancouver-based NGO that aided him during his own resettlement process. Like Mohammed, these families have left loved ones behind and are struggling to adapt to a new land, finding resilience and hope for a new beginning. Like thousands of other newly-resettled refugees, Mohammed has been striving to bring his family to safety in Canada. Millions of Syrians are currently displaced within Syria’s borders and in neighboring countries.

Full screen with good speakers or headphone for best experience. A 4K version is available. Hand : " The terminal part of the human arm located below the forearm, used for grasping and holding and consisting of the wrist, palm, four fingers, and an opposable thumb ".
