The Knot by Lizzy Sanford

BAAUER — PLANET'S MAD by LuckyMe

The new album by Baauer arrives June 5 on LuckyMe • http://baauer.com Directed by Rick Farin and Clair Cochran at Actual Objects. "From the start, nobody knew what to make of it. It looked like nothing anyone had ever seen. Scientists rushed to study it, artists to capture it, mystics to worship it. They all thought they could know it, claim it. But the longer you looked at it, the more it would change. By the time they thought they had figured it out, it was something else. I tried to take a picture that first day, but the photo just came out black. All we knew was that it was here now. And by the second day, as it hung there in the sky, iridescent and massive, it suddenly seemed familiar, even friendly. And we knew its name, we woke with it on our minds like a strange dream. It was a message, one word: BAAUER."

Built From Within by Janssen Powers

My wife and I disappeared into the Rocky Mountains for a week last summer on a mission to complete the Teton Crest Trail. We decided to bring my 16mm camera along to document the 40-mile trek, figuring that the footage would last a lot longer than any bruises made by our heavy packs. In hindsight, now going on six-weeks cooped up inside a NYC apartment, deciding to shoot this trip feels like one of the best decisions we've made. Like many of us in these uncertain times, I've been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster lately, but this footage has given me an escape. Here's to hoping that someone else can find some solace in it as well. Narration by: Ansel Adams Sound Design/ Mix by: Steve Horne Score by: Janssen Powers & Harrison Allen

DONT KNOW WHAT by Thomas Renoldner

Employing the method of single frame editing, primarily focused on sound, the realistic film image transforms into a surreal, structuralist and finally even abstract film. It creates a musical composition while experimenting with the human voice and transforming language into sound and music. DONT KNOW WHAT questions classical rules of different film genres by combining elements of avant-garde film / video art and entertainment cinema.

Quarantine Loops by Clim

A personal side project made during the first days of quarantine during the Covid-19 crisis we are all sadly living. Being confined is something new for all of us and it is not easy. Lots of people worldwide are suffering, confused and scared. We want to help by spreading some hope out there doing it so through humor and love meanwhile trying to make this confinement a little bit easier for everyone. Simple thoughts such as how to occupy your time wisely, trying to stay active, healthy or simply to learn how to slow down. Things that this society seemed to have forgotten. Because perhaps we all can learn something positive about this surreal and uncertain experience. Stay home. Stay positive. Check the whole set of loops here: https://ift.tt/2ydMUtG? DELIVERED by LAW CHEN

A slice of life in the time of corona. Thousands of invisible front line workers risk their health every day to bring food to your couch. They aren't just immigrants struggling to survive in New York City. They aren't just the delivery men and women you don't look at when you open your door. They are the backbone of this city, they are the essential. Most importantly, they are people too and they deserve our respect and recognition now more than ever. Tip generously if you'd like and give them PPE if you can. I've been riding alongside couriers and messengers in the city for a decade. In the past, I've been mistaken as a delivery biker whenever I carry any sort of bag even in my own building, probably because I'm asian. That used to annoy me, but now I realize they're more needed than most of us. Directed by Law Featuring the Couriers and Messengers of NYC This was made safely and at a distance. Earth Odyssey - Asaf Avidan (Official Video) by Adi Halfin

This video was made by dancers from different continents filming themselves in their confinement with their personal phones and computers. It was made in the first week of April 2020 while almost 2 billion people around the globe were unable to move freely due to the restrictions imposed in attempt to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus. "I found so much beauty in the need of people to keep on playing music from their balconies or dance together through virtual meeting applications… To simultaneously succumb to and transcend earthly limitations by artistic endeavours. These are stressful times, and maybe it helps to remember that we are all a part of a mutual story. An experience of searching for meaning and control in this storm of a life. We all go through this one way or another. And in that… We are not alone This is our Odyssey." Still Here (還在) by Sean Wang

In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a few residents refuse to leave their now-abandoned village. // "Still Here" was filmed in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in the village where my grandmother lived, my mother grew up, and where I spent my childhood summers. Nine years ago, my grandmother moved out of the village. Recently, I discovered that not only did nobody move into my grandmother's house after she left, but that the entire village had been displaced and decayed for years, except for a few residents who refused to leave. I was curious to find out what their lives were like now that the village was abandoned, and why they decided to stay. Bryan Zanisnik's Big Pivot | Art21 "New York Close Up" by Art21

What’s your favorite Swedish pastry? Recently returning to New York City after several years of living in Sweden, artist and storyteller Bryan Zanisnik comically chronicles the highs and lows of life as a contemporary artist, discovering a love for mushroom foraging and the pleasures of inner stillness along the way. After more than ten years in New York, the artist is both exhilarated and exhausted—exhilarated by the high visibility exhibition opportunities, but ultimately exhausted by the chronic under-funding and his own labor-intensive process. Describing his mix of photography, sculpture, and performance, Zanisnik explains “I would do projects where I would collect thousands of objects, I would arrange them, photograph them, move them, [and] build an installation.” But the process was bringing diminishing personal returns, prompting the artist to ask, “Do we make our lives more difficult than they have to be?” The solution? Zanisnik pivots and moves to Sweden—spurred on by his partner’s new job there—dreaming of universal health care and government artist support. But the artist soon discovers that Sweden is not quite the promised land he expected and learns that the road to personal and professional fulfilment is not always a straight one. Mirroring Zanisnik’s own tragic-comic style with a playful use of sound effects and archival footage, this portrait is a universal story of one person’s quest for financial stability, creative joy, and the best in Swedish pastry. Bryan Zanisnik (b. 1979, Union, New Jersey, USA) lives and works in Queens, New York. For someone who plays a better game than his dog. The gardener is looking for a mysterious serial vandal who has lost a yellow boot. But what if both of them are looking for the same thing? © 2016 VIRAGE FILM in co-production with SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen Distribution, World Sales: https://ift.tt/2AQ55V7 https://ift.tt/34nLHft https://ift.tt/3aVIyGo Awards: - FANTOCHE 2016 Swiss Audience Award - FANTOCHE 2016 Swiss High Risk Jury Award - Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival 2016 – Animated Grand Prix Award - BALKANIMA 2016 - Special Mention - Animalada 2016 – Sevilla Animation festival Audience Award - Solothurner Filmtage 2017 – 1st Audience Award (Swiss animation competition) - Athens Animfest 2017 - Special Mention - Stockholm Experimental & Animation Film festival 2016 – 3rd Audience Award - Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival 2017 - Special Mention - Silhouette Festival 2017 - Children Audience Award - Sedicicorto International Film Festival - LUMINOR ANIMALAB (best animation) award Festivals: 2016 - Turku Animated Film Festival (Finland) - FANTOCHE Animation Film Festival (Baden, CH) - Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival 2016 (Bristol, UK) - BALKANIMA European Animated Film festival (Serbia) - ANIMATOU Int. Wong Ping's Fables 2 / 黃炳寓言 (二) by WongPing

Wong Ping's Fables 2 Chapter 1: Cow accidently become super rich after years in jail on rioting charges. Cow now consider how to spread the blessing with all beings. Chapter 2: The con-jointed rabbit family was living below the poverty line. The family of five have to toil all day long but still cannot live from hand to mouth. An incident in Easter, the rabbit family was ruined. "Commissioned and premiered at Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland, 2019. Due to the consequences of the coronavirus, Kunsthalle Basel's spaces remain closed to the public, but the institution is actively trying to find ways to collect and share content with its audience because, in times like this, we all might need it more than ever. Together we asked ourselves, how does one continue to experience art with requirements for physical distancing and under the current conditions? This is why we decided to share with you the fables here."

Amazing Azerbaijan by Joerg Daiber

Azerbaijan is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south. Azerbaijan has been my favorite country on my Caucasus trip a while back. The people have been incredibly welcoming. The mountain landscapes are just breathtaking and some sites like the mud volcanoes lilterally look like out of this world. The contrast from mountain villages that feel like time traveling to a fancy bling bling city like Baku could not be any bigger. However, see for yourself and enjoy this ride through this amazing country in only 3 minute. Shooting locations: Baku, Mud Volcanoes in Qobustan, Khinalig (Xınalıq) and Sheki. MANERA - SURF LIBRE by MANERA - Stay Salty -

Watch Dion Agius and Brendon Gibbens as they prove why surfing can be considered as a performing art rather than just a simple sport. As if addicted to the ocean and the waves, Dion and Brendon have a constant desire to surf. It’s an obsession, a fantasy permanently hidden somewhere inside no matter where they are. It makes surfing sound a lot like a drug. Paul Gauguin couldn’t get up in the morning without thinking about picking up a paintbrush. He said painting set his soul free from the oppression of living as if it were the only outlet that allowed him to appreciate things. Surfing is their painting. Surfing is their art. They are the artists of their sport. THIS LAND by Faith E. Briggs

Runner and advocate Faith E. Briggs used to run through the streets of Brooklyn every morning. Now, she’s running 150 miles through three U.S. National Monuments that lay in the thick of the controversy around public lands. Accompanied by running companions who represent diverse perspectives in what it means to be a public land owner, she assesses what is at stake if previously protected lands are reduced and if the public is largely unaware. THIS LAND is a story about land access told through a journey of inclusion and empowerment. Directed by Chelsea Jolly and Whit Hassett Produced by Faith E. Chloe Kim: Finding Transition | Beyond the Bib Episode 1, Season 4 by Dew Tour

After winning every major contest during the 2018 season, Chloe Kim became the top women’s superpipe snowboarder in the world at the age of 17. In what came as a surprise to many, in October of 2019 Chloe released a YouTube video announcing that she would be taking a break from competition that season and attend Princeton University instead. The years of rigorous competition schedules, obligations, training, and more were impacting her mental well-being and left little time for Chloe to discover who she really was, or to determine her own path. “I don’t want anyone to think I’m about to retire or anything like that - that’s not it. I just need some Chloe-time! I need to be a human, I need to be a normal kid for once, because I haven’t been able to do that my whole life. So I just wanted to give myself one year, the first time in seven years, to give myself a break from competing,” said Chloe. Watch her first full Beyond the Bib Season Four episode here, and stay tuned to DewTour.com for Episode Two. Directed by Jeremy Pettit See more from Beyond the Bib Season 4: https://ift.tt/2X2tSBc
